The Core Rulebook

This kit contains everything needed to play, including all books, dice, a screen, a case, and an envelope of extras.

Become the hero or nemesis of Gotham City. Live in the heart of Gotham, playing as either an anonymous character or a famous figure, from the hero or villain side. Explore Gotham’s dark alleys to investigate mysteries and confront your enemies in heroic and spectacular events. In the end, only your choices matter.

In this role-playing game, you and your friends will create your own characters or play as existing ones. One of you will act as the game master, guiding and narrating the adventure. The game uses the famous D20 system with its CoC evolution, and offers three character creation modes to suit your style and expectations, ranging from a simple detective to a super-powered character.

Each character has six attributes representing both physical and intellectual qualities. The D20 system offers both beginners and experts a fast-paced and dynamic experience. To customize your character, there are 75 paths corresponding to specializations, each with up to five ranks.

This beautiful 243-page book includes rules for character creation, descriptions of various paths, experience rules, and equipment. The second part explains testing and the combat system, the third describes optional rules for things like insanity, interrogation, and surveillance, and the fourth provides advice for players on embodying characters and guidance for game masters on creating and running scenarios. The book concludes with a gallery of characters from the Batman universe.

The Game Master’s Screen

No game master would be complete without a screen! This essential tool, featuring a stunning four-panel illustration by French artist Anthony Jean, immerses you in the heart of a riot at Arkham Asylum, where heroes confront their lifelong enemies.

The screen’s interior panels, dedicated to the game master, summarize actions and their difficulty levels, combat rules, and weapon tables. All special actions are listed, along with sections on damage, protection, and healing. A small index helps quickly locate essential information in the core rulebook.

The Storage Case

A beautifully illustrated case by Anthony Jean completes the set, allowing you to neatly store the rulebook and game screen.

The Adventure Book

This 300-page book complements the core rulebook, immersing players in Gotham City for thrilling, heroic adventures. With a total of 18 ready-to-play adventures, you’ll bring players into Gotham City to experience intense and immersive stories. Each scenario is rated for action, investigation, and atmosphere, and includes seven “one-shot” adventures and two extensive campaigns that allow characters to evolve across connected stories.

The Guide

This 319-page guide is the definitive reference for Gotham City, perfect for role-players and Batman fans alike. It provides essential information on every location in Gotham, from Midtown to the Narrows, Arkham Island to Blackgate Island. The second section details all the organizations in Batman’s universe, including the Suicide Squad, Spyral, and the Teen Titans. The third section covers all those who have worn the Batman costume, close allies, villains, and surprises for even the most dedicated fans. Each description references its source comic and publication year, offering a wealth of scenario hooks and story ideas.

The Dice Set

Essential for all players and the game master, the dice set includes nine dice in “hero” style. These black and yellow dice, with the Batman logo replacing the highest number, are perfect for playing the Batman role-playing game. The set includes a four-sided die, two six-sided dice, two eight-sided dice, one ten-sided die, one twelve-sided die, and two twenty-sided dice.

The Stretch Goals Envelope

Finally, an envelope containing all the stretch goals unlocked during the Kickstarter campaign rounds out the set. Designed to look like a classified file, it includes:

  • 10 character sheets for players to create their avatars
  • A map of Gotham City in A2 format for easy orientation
  • 13 double-sided game boards used in the adventure book scenarios, providing 26 immersive locations for your own stories
  • Five bookmarks to insert in your books for easy reference
  • An A3 illustration by Anthony Jean that mirrors the case design
  • And lastly, to decide the fate of your players, Two-Face’s iconic coin to serve as your decision-maker
